Dear Friends and Family,

As you may have already known, Trena and I have been on the hunt for jobs over the last 5 months or so.  We are excited to inform you that we are going to be moving to Chicago!  Trena was accepted to the Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) where she will get her master's degree and work in an inner city school.  I will continue to look for a job in advertising, non-profits, or coaching, but am also open to a new path that God may have in store for me.

Trena's acceptance came two days ago and it is perfect timing.  The lease of our current apartment ends May 31, and Trena's program begins on June 13.  This will be a quick but hopefully smooth transition, as AUSL is courteous of new out-of-stater's like us.

This change will no doubt stretch us to grow in new ways; we are both nervous and excited.  We appreciate your support and will gladly welcome any encouragement, advice, and prayers that you have related to new city, new jobs, etc.  We love you all.

Live from Tulip Time

At about 9:30 this morning I heard a man shouting in the streets and some loud clanging. Was someone hurt?  Was that an ambulance? No and No.  It's just HOLLAND'S TOWN CRIER.  (Don't worry, he IS a  professional crier.  They flew him in from Europe.)  So basically his job is to shout things like "Wakey wakey holland! It's tulip time" and ring a giant bell.  The crowds love it.  Unfortunately...it's in our front yard.

Don't get me wrong, we love living down here for Tulip Time.  We had great seats for  the street scrubbing parade today,  and the stir fry Gabe made for dinner smelled faintly of elephant ears. mmmmmm delicious.

Tonight we had root beer floats with Dave and Lexi, and welcomed Welkomed  in the thunderstorm from the roof of New Holland.  The lightning lit up the whole sky - it was literally like someone was flipping a light switch on and off.  Do angels have rave parties? All signs point to yes.

Happy Tulip Time!
